The goal of Lisa’s Place is to provide friendship and support to Central Coast trans people through chat circles, activities, outings, and dinners.
Hours are subject to change as we find what works best for all participants. Check our calendar of events for up to date info on groups and meeting times!
All sharing in online meetings, including choosing to share your video or audio, is completely optional.
Stop by! Lisa’s Place is a safe space. It is both very friendly and very private. Whether you’re out and confident or closeted and shy. Or just simply curious. We will welcome you with open arms and respect.
This is Lisa!
As a child, Lisa Gilinger knew she was a girl, and yet, she had no evidence to support the idea. “When I was a little girl I was never allowed to be a little girl. I couldn’t say it, talk about it, or be it, without great peril.” As she matured, Lisa did what most trans people of her time did: “I married, had children, built careers, acquired degrees. I lived a life that many would see as a dream life. But I was never able to be comfortable as a man.”
After a successful career in technical sales and marketing, Lisa opened The Law Offices of Lisa C. Gilinger, Attorney at Law, here in Santa Barbara. She is an accomplished guitarist, loving parent, proud dog owner, and has been an avid member of the Santa Barbara sailing community since 1977. She has been a member of the Santa Barbara Yacht club since 1985 and was the Commodore of the Santa Barbara Sailing Club in 1986.
Lisa's Place is funded in part through The Fund for Santa Barbara.
