Transgender people, their friends, and supportive family & allies are invited to join the Santa Barbara Transgender Advocacy Network (SBTAN) at a community celebration in honor of International Transgender Day of Visibility. The event will take place on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara, located at 1535 Santa Barbara Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101.

The International Transgender Day of Visibility is an annual observation dedicated to celebrating the resilience and success of transgender and gender-expansive individuals while raising awareness of the discrimination they face. This day serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of visibility and acceptance within our communities.

SBTAN's celebration aims to bring together individuals from all walks of life to support and honor the transgender community in Santa Barbara and beyond. The event will feature a variety of activities designed to engage attendees of all ages. The event opens at 4pm with an art show highlighting the creative works of local transgender artists. There will also be refreshments, face painting, a chance to meet with representatives from local LGBTQ+ organizations, and more. At 5pm the dinner program will include live music and short presentation giving an opportunity or members of the trans community to share their experiences. The dancing starts after 7pm, featuring a performance by Cosmic Dancer and DJ Ace Ramirez.

Funds raised from the event support SBTAN in its efforts to advance the welfare of transgender individuals in California's Central Coast communities. The organization creates safe spaces for members of the transgender community, facilitates groups for parents of transgender children, and takes actions such as the recent Transgender Unity March that saw more than 500 people come out to support & defend transgender people.

Email info@sbtan.org to submit art or ask questions. Or, click the link below for advance tickets and donations. The suggested ticket donation is $25-50 general / $10 students but no donations are necessary to attend.

Funding support was provided by the Arts Making Impact Grant Program, a partnership between the Santa Barbara Bowl and the County Arts Commission.
